How to create a honeycomb grid with gradient colour assigned based on the number of records that are contained by each cell.
Please note that the honeycomb is dynamically calculated based on records that are within the map viewport.
Open the layer properties window and go to Display Query tab → Honeycomb tab:
Size of a single cell in pixels
Palette settings:
clicking on the palette preview will open Resource Picker window where a different palette can be selected,
selected palette can be further customized with use of Lighter, Darker and Reverse options.
Base style for each cell which can be changed by clicking on its preview. Palette will be applied as a colour for the selected base style:
Skip empty cell option, when activated will hide all cells that do not contain any records.
Opacity – controls cells transparency.
