Rotate
This is a similar process to Move except in this instance you will be defining an arc and so will need to click three times on the screen. The point where the two lines meet will be the centre of rotation. The Parameters available for the Rotate command are: X, Y, and Rotation (angle of rotation).
How to use the Rotate tool
To explain how to use this tool we will be using prepared records:
- Rectangle (polygon)
- Square (polygon)
- Straight Line (line)
- Trapezium (polygon)
- Point (point)
In this example we will use Rotate tool to rotate the trapezium (number 4). Firstly, we need to select the trapezium. To do that we’ll use the Mark & Move tool.
Please pick the Mark & Move tool and click on the desired record.
Inspection mark will appear in that spot and all information about the record will be displayed in the Inspector panel. Now we are ready to start the editing process. Please click the Edit record button.
Clicking the Edit record button will change the selected record colour. It means that the record is currently in the Edit mode.
You can also select a record that you want to edit by using the Inspect tool. On the Inspected record list you can choose from which layer you want to edit a record in selected location. Then you can click Edit button to enter the Edit mode.
Records which are in Edit mode can be modified by all tools from the Modify Selected Geometries group. Because we want to rotate the record we will pick the Rotate tool.
Rotate tool will rotate selected record by specified angle. The operation requires 3 steps:
- We need to set the Point of rotation.
- We have to define the first component of the Angle of rotation.
- We have to define the second component of the Angle of rotation.
In this guide we will rotate the Trapezium. Firstly, we need to set the Point of rotation. To do so, please click on the map in place which will become the Point of rotation.
When the Point of rotation is set we will see a line started in the Point of rotation and ended in the mouse cursor location. This line defines the first component of the Angle of rotation. We need to click again to set it.
The first component of the Angle of rotation will become visible and the orange circle icon will appear. Now we have to define the second component of the Angle of rotation. Again, we set it by clicking on the map.
Setting the second component of the Angle of rotation will finish the Rotate operation. A new yellow element will appear. This is the preview of the new location for the rotated geometry. Please click Save button to keep the new polygon or Cancel to dismiss all changes.
This is how the final effect of using the Rotate tool looks (in this example):
