Parallel
Snap – parallel to a line
When geometries can be created, parts of these (or the whole geometry in the case of a line) can be drawn parallel to selected elements of geometry in other features and datasets. As an example, the user is selecting the ‘Parallel’ option to draw the portion of a boundary of a polygon, using a portion of the MasterMap Topo line layer as the geometry against which to run parallel.
Once the geometry to run parallel to is selected, the user simply needs to drag the cursor – which locks the line segment to run parallel until the user places a vertex (at which point the newly created parallel geometry is locked in place), and the editing continues.
The image above shows the selected OS MasterMap geometry (in pink) against which the user is running the polygon perimeter section to run parallel with.
