Align

Align

This useful tool allows you to expand a geometry to the outline of another, even more complicated geometry. You can create another copy of an existing geometry without copying whole record or redrawing the geometry manually.

To start using the Align tool, please add a geometry inside of bounds of an existing one which your new geometry will be expanded to. In my example I have added a new geometry to 'Polygon layer' and I want it to be expanded to red record from the 'StatMap Customers' layer.

You can set which layers the Align tool should work on, by setting it in 'Trace settings' (you can open it by clicking right mouse button during edition).

I have set it to 'Active layers, so I have to select 'StatMap Customers' layer before hitting the 'Align' button. You can also set it to 'Visible layers', 'Stencil layers' or any specific layer from your map.

When my new geometry is drawn and I have got proper trace settings, I can click 'Align' tool.

Now the geometry is expanded as expected and I can Save my new record.
