StatMap Gazetteer Management System provides a simple method of adding XREF records to multiple BLPU's at once by importing a CSV file containing UPRN’s and cross-ref data.

You can perform this operation by using Import section of the Export & Import tool.

Method 1 - recommended

This method utilises a user created and configurable Custom Profile.

When you open the Export and Import pane, please scroll down the pane until you see a section called Import.

Click the + button to add a new custom profile.

Select the newly created profile and click Edit button. An import profile properties window will be show.

Here you can:

Name - change the profile name

Source - select the XREF source category from the drop down list

UPRN Columns and Cross-reference Column - define the name of the field within the CSV file, which stores the UPRN numbers and cross-reference values

When providing the UPRN and Cross-reference column names it is recommended to use the drop down arrow to load the columns from the source data CSV file and select the correct name from the list.

Mode - use this switch to select whether, upon execution, the profile should made the changes to the database (Update) or merely return a report of how many records would have been modified (Test) and in what way.

When you’re satisfied with the configuration, please click Save to save it and close the window.

If you want to use this import profile, please select it on the list and click Import button.

You’ll be asked to open the source data CSV file and once you do that, the processing will begin immediately.

Due to compute-intensive nature of bulk processing, please perform this operation when there are no other users in the GMS system. Depending on the size of the data source it may take a while for the entire collection to be processed. Once the processing is over please wait a couple of minutes and then refresh the GMS application to see the changes in XREF records reflected on individual properties.

Method 2 - deprecated

This method utilises the predefined import profile called Cross-references and requires the source data in a specific structure.

The CSV file for XREF bulk insert requires two columns: UPRN and a column named after cross-ref Source ID (cross-reference source abbreviation).

For example, the column name for Electoral Registration cross-ref values would be ER.

The UPRN will control to which property (BLPU) should the XREF be added. The cross-reference values from the CSV file will be mapped to the XREF fields in the following fashion.
