To add a restriction to an order, you first have to click Details button below the order name on the list of orders.

When you do it, the view will change and you’ll see:

  1. list of all restrictions within this traffic order;

  2. toolbox with individual tools for each restriction type which can be added to this order;

  3. guide creation and removal tools, which can be used as a help when drawing restriction geometries

Now you can add a new restriction by clicking the Restriction Type icon from the toolbox.

The side pane will now show information about the restriction. All fields marked with a red stripe next to them are required and only when those fields are filled and at least one restriction geometry is present, the Create button activates.

The map will change to show the MasterMap Topographic Line features to help you draw the restriction geometries.

By defining the restriction geometry first and only completing the details afterwards, for most cases, you will save yourself having to complete the Street and Side fields as these will be inferred from the location of the geometry by the system. Having the geometry defined might also come handy when defining the From and To descriptions if one of them uses the length of the restriction since this information is provided in the geometry pane during creation.

When defining a restriction geometry please click on the street curb to mark the start point of the restriction and click on the curb in another location to mark the next/last point on the restriction. You’ll notice that a thin black line if following the mouse cursor as you move along the curb showing you the baseline of the restriction.

To finish the geometry, please hover the mouse on top of the last point until the cursor changes from an arrow to a hand pointing a finger and click the drop icon.

As an alternative, after placing the last point, please click the right mouse button to show the context menu and select Finish from the list.

When the geometry has been drawn, you’ll see a new section on the Create Restriction pane with the heading New Geometry. Before a geometry is accepted you can modify its shape. The image below shows the base geometry as a purple line on the curb and the restriction/road marking geometry as a red line on the road. By modifying the Trim values, you can make the restriction geometry shorter than the base geometry. By modifying the Offset, you can move the geometry further away or closer to the curb. Finally, by modifying the Drop values, you can control how far from the curb should the restriction geometry line stop. Offset and Drop can be modified per geometry but their initial values are taken from the Restriction Type definition.

When you’re happy with the shape of the restriction geometry, please click Accept to confirm it. You can now add another geometry to this restriction or enter the textual description of the restriction in the From and To fields. When completing the From and To fields you can either type in the description directly into the box or you can employ the Location Builder to help you to keep consistent wording in these descriptions.

When you’re happy with the state of the restriction, please click Create to save it.
