Context menu contains helpful tools. It is especially useful during the Edit or Measure process. Menu is changing its size and stored tools to match the currently used tool. To open the Context menu please click the right mouse button in the map view area.
Menu contains 7 sections:
- Instant actions.
- Capture.
- History.
- End.
- Coordinates.
- Length.
- Angle.
Each of these sections contains various tools. You can find a full description of the tools below.
- Instant actions.
All tools in this section are exactly the same as those which you can find in Earthlight tabs. The Instant actions section contains 4 tools:- Inspect
- Grab
- Ruler
- Select
- Capture.
This section contains tools especially useful for the Measure and Edit operations. TheCapture section stores 2 tools and 1 settings field:- Trace
This tool allows to trace geometries. It means that all operations will stick to configured set of records. On the screen below you can see how the Ruler tool behaves when used together with the Trace tool.
The Ruler tool traced the broken line from point A to point B and displayed the exact length of the line. - Snap
The Snap tool works similarly to Trace tool. It also stick to selected geometry. There is only 1 difference between these two tools. The Snap tool will "catch" the geometry whenever a mouse cursor will be close to it. On the screen below you can see how the Ruler tool behaves when used together with the Trace tool.

In this field you can configure which layers should take part in Trace and Snapoperations. To include a layer type please click on its name. The V symbol next to the layer type means that this type is included in Trace and Snap operations.To set a layer as Stencil please check the Is stencil layer option in the layer properties/Advanced tab window. This option is most commonly used forMasterMap Topographic Area layer.

The History section contains 2 well-known tools:- Undo
Allows you to revert the latest action. - Redo
Reverts the effects of the Undo action.

There are 3 tools in this section. Both of them can be used to finish a tool using operation.- Cancel
Cancels the whole operation. No changes are made. - Finish
Accepts all steps made while the tool was used. - Finish & close
Accepts all steps made while the tool was used and closes the geometry so it becomes a polygon. On the two screenshots below you can see how it works.

- Coordinates
The Coordinates section contains only 1 tool – X,Y. This tool allows you to enter exact coordinates. You can use this tool to precisely set the location of the next edit point while using other tools. You can jump from X to Y field by pressing the TAB key. - Length
This section contains measurement tools.- Line
Displays the total length of all segments while other tools are being used. - Segment
Displays the distance between the last marked position and the cursor location - Buffer
Allows to add a buffer to the currently used tool. Buffer will increase the area of polygons and size of lines or points by the entered value. On the screens below you can see how sample line increased by buffer looks.

In case of using Circle or Disc tools during the editing process you will notice that there is one more tool in the Context menu length section – Radius. - Radius
This tool displays the radius of Circle or Disc that is currently being created.

This section contains only 1 tool:- Heading
This tool displays the angle between the last edit point and the current cursor position.
You can also set the exact angle for the next edit point of currently used tool. Please enter the angle from -180 to 180 and confirm it by pressing Enter key. Confirming the angle will block the possibility to change the angle direction. The lock icon next to the angle value indicates that is blocked.
