Import Layer
The import works with many formats and once this tool is invoked it shows the file directory on your network for files to be selected and imported directly without having to access the server and run the scripts. More than one layer can be imported at any time.
Only following types are allowed:
Shape files (*.shp, *.shx, *.dbf, *.prj)
MapInfo Tab files (*.tab, *.dat, *.id, *.map)
MapInfo Mid/Mif files (*.mid, *.mif)
Comma Separated Values (*.csv)
ZIP Archive Files (*.zip)
The Import tool window contains 4 sections:
Layers to import:
This section allows you to select which layer/s from the selected file you want to import. You can select the layer/s by checking a small box on the left side of the layer’s name.- Directory for newly created layers:
Clicking a Browse button will open a dialog window where you can select a folder for newly created layers. Please be aware that you have to open the desired folder(not only select it on the list) and click OK button to set the new location. You can always track what directory will be set by checking the Path: entry. The directory for newly created layers will be exactly the same as the Path: entry.- Overwrite if table exists:
If there is an already existing table with the same Table name, you can overwrite it by checking the small checkbox on the left side.

Layer/table name:
This section allows you to enter a name for imported layer and for the imported layer database table.Additional configuration
This section contains 4 options:- Geometry Type:
Here you can set a geometry type for imported layer. This option will be enabled if Earthlight detects more than one geometry type in the layer selected for import. You can then use a drop-down menu to select the geometry type. - Primary Key
This option allows you to select which column will become a primary key column. You can pick one of the following options:- Use existing field
Please use the drop-down list to select one of the existing columns. This column will become a primary key column. - Create new field
You can create a new column here. Please enter a column name and it will become a primary key column.

How to use the Import tool
- Please select the Import tool
- Please click Select files to upload button. Layer upload dialog window will appear.
- Please select a file for import and click Open button.
- Import Layer window will appear.
In the Import layer window please set:- Which layers should be imported.
The destination directory for the imported layers.
Layer and table names.
Additional options.
When everything is set, click OK to start the import operation or Cancel to close the window.
