GMS New Address
This tool allows gazetteer custodians to create new properties. The pane visible below enables them to provide all attributes necessary for setting up new or modifying an existing property.
All mandatory fields are denoted with the red line between the field's label and value box.
Following sections can be identified on this pane:
1. Location (BLPU)
In this section users can provide the location related attributes of the property's BLPU.
There are 3 Representative Point Codes (RPC) for the Easting and Northing of the BLPU - Visual centre, General internal point and Start of referenced street. Use the provided drop down to select an appropriate one.
2. Classification
In this section user should provide details of the BLPU's classification. Up to 3 levels of classification can be entered depending on possible combinations accepted by GeoPlace. Please use the Find button to see the description of any classification combination.
3. Cross Refs (XREF)
Here users are able to enter or modify cross references for the edited BLPU.
To add a new cross reference, please click the + button. A new line with the word (none) will be added to the list below. When you click this line it will expand into a pane on which you will be able to enter the XREF's details.
To select a cross reference category, please click the More button and choose one from the list of available categories.
4. Address (LPI)
In this section you can provide address details of the created / edited property.
Initially only the Primary Addressable Object details are visible, so if you need to provide Secondary details please click the Show SAO button.
If you wish to create multiple addresses at once, e.g.: a block of flats or a group of new properties being developed, you can use the + button to open an address range editor window.
This editor allows you to:
a) Configure how many properties should be created - by changing value in the Number of addresses box.
b) Enter the PAO and SAO details of the properties.
When you're happy with the configuration click OK to add the addresses to the list on the main pane.
If you have chosen a BLPU RPC at the top of the pane and set the Easting and Northing there (via the push pin or the street selection) these pieces of information will be carried over to this list. You are now able to relocate the addresses on the map by activating the cross-hair icon next to an address and clicking the map in the location where the address should be placed. Alternatively you can click the Put on a line button above the list and draw a line on the map on which the addresses will be placed equidistant.
The suggested and by far the quickest way of providing details of the street is to click the push pin button and select the street on the map.
5. Polygon
This section allows you to add or modify a BLPU provenance polygon. Users can draw a new polygon by hand using +Freehand option or clone an existing one using +Clone.
When a user have finished drawing the geometry, an attribute pane will be shown on which they must select the provenance code and can provide supplementary information to support the selected provenance code in the text box labelled Annotation.
From this pane users can Edit a geometry, use the Align feature to snap it to OS Topography Layer or Delete it.
6. Save the property
To commit the new property to the GMS database please press Create Address button.
A data validation process will run and if any mandatory information is missing from the submission you will be informed about it and given a chance to return to the pane and amend the data.
You have the option to proceed with the submission anyway by clicking OK. If you do so, an additional warning will be shown.
If you click OK at this point the appropriate records will be created in the database.
