Divide tool is very handy tool for slicing geometries in one record for many parts. You can set it to divide your geometry for several equal pieces or set exact length of one piece in meters.

It is very useful for creating separate geometries for parking spaces from one parking bay geometry for instance.

To use this tool, please select desired record on the Inspection or Selection pane first, and then go to edition mode, by clicking the 'Edit record' button.

Then you should be able to execute the 'Divide' tool by clicking its icon on the 'Administration' tab.

Please notice that if you would like to save geometries created by the 'Divide' tool, your layer has to be multi-polygon or geometry-collection type layer.

You can find description of tool options below:

  1. 'Bearing (in degrees)' - if the slices should be divided under some angle, please enter a desired angle there.

  2. The 'Reverse' button reverse set angle. For example changes '15°' angle to '-15°'.
  3. 'Divide equality' field defines to how many parts your geometry should be sliced.

  4. 'Divide by length (in meters)' - If you do want to divide geometry to a specific number of slices, but you just want every part specific length, you can use this option.

  5. 'Distribute remaining part' option is only usable when you have got the 'Divide by length' option set. It allows you to average length of a slice to avoid situation when the last slice is smaller than others.

For instance when there is a polygon 7 meters wide and you select to divide it by 2 meters, it will be always 1m slice at the end. Using the 'Distribute remaining part' option will result all slices will be the same, but length of every part could be slightly modified (to 2.33m in this example).
