Replace
This replaces the current selected records with the new selection.
Add
This adds the new records to the currently selected ones, or if it is a new query, then this would be the button to use.
Remove
This removes the second lot of selected records from the original selection
Intersect
This is a cross reference tool, which compares the original selection to the new one to see which records overlap.
